Picture
Dr. Fleary’s specific research training and expertise are in preventive health, pediatric obesity, child and adolescent health behavior, family adjustment to chronic illness, and secondary data analysis. Additionally, her clinical experiences with underserved families in both hospital and community settings have contributed to the importance of context and disparities to her research platform. As a result, Dr. Fleary established and currently directs the Child Health Equity Research Lab at CUNY SPH. Dr. Fleary’s primary goal is to develop interventions, sensitive to social determinants of health, to empower children, adolescents, and families who are underserved to engage in preventive health behaviors and advocate for themselves and their communities. Through these interventions she hopes to reduce adult chronic disease risk and health disparities in underserved communities.
